How to move a signing station between locations

Moving a tablet is not the same as moving its configuration. The device can arrive at a new venue while still opening the old form or retaining a staff session. Treat relocation as a short setup task and verify the guest-facing result before use.

Confirm the intended destination

Identify the new location, activity and current form route. Use the supported kiosk or sharing controls to select the appropriate context. Do not assume the physical location of the device automatically updates the signing configuration.

Check whether the same template is used at both sites and whether its reviewed scope remains appropriate. If the activity changes, resolve that question through the document owner before treating the device as ready.

Review sessions and entry points

Open the participant-facing route and confirm it does not expose an administrative screen. Review any saved bookmarks, home-screen shortcuts or printed QR signs that move with the station. A correct browser tab does not fix an outdated shortcut a guest may open later.

Use named staff access where appropriate for management tasks, then return the device to the intended guest route. Keep staff credentials out of notes attached to the tablet.

Test the new environment

Check charging, network access, screen placement and privacy at the new station. A device tested indoors may behave differently at an outdoor entrance. Follow the outdoor station guide where relevant.

Run a complete sample visit and verify:

Hand over the station explicitly

Tell the receiving shift who checked the setup and which tasks remain. If the station returns to its original site later, repeat the location review. A temporary move can leave configuration behind after the equipment comes back.

Keep a concise device register with its owner and current intended location. Avoid making the device itself the only place that information exists. The next shift should be able to identify the correct route without guessing from a sticker or a remembered browser tab.
