How to create a shared signing-device opening checklist

Check power, network, the current form and session reset before guests use a reception tablet or kiosk.

A shared signing device deserves an opening check just like the rest of reception. The goal is simple: the first guest reaches the right form, can complete it and does not see information left by the previous user.

Check the physical station

Confirm the device is charged or connected safely, the screen is readable and the stand is usable from the guest's position. Check that staff can help without leaning over a public display of personal answers.

Open the intended kiosk or signing route and verify the organization and form. A browser left open overnight can still show an old confirmation, a staff screen or a form for another activity.

Test connection and reset behavior

Verify the connection used at the station, not only the office network. Complete a controlled sample through your normal testing process and confirm the record appears. Then check that the device returns to a clean starting state.

Use browser history and navigation cautiously. The next guest should not be able to view the previous person's filled answers by pressing Back. Follow the product's shared-device setup instructions rather than assuming any public form tab behaves like a kiosk.

Give the shift an owner and fallback

Assign the opening check to a role and record failures clearly. Keep a working alternative for a flat battery, broken cable or network interruption. The fallback should explain who makes the decision when signing cannot be confirmed.

Repeat the check after a browser update, network change or relocation of the station. If staff regularly skip one step, find out whether the step is unclear or the device arrangement makes it impractical.

Before you call it ready

  • Power and guest-facing placement are suitable.
  • The correct current form opens.
  • A completed test record can be confirmed.
  • The station resets without exposing previous answers.
THE PRACTICAL DETAILS

Common questions

Can we use a normal browser tab as a kiosk?

Use the supported shared-device setup and verify its reset behavior. Do not assume a public form in an ordinary tab automatically clears navigation history and previous participant details.

How often should we test the station?

Check it at opening and after changes that can affect it, such as a browser update, network change or relocation. Include a quick reset check during busy shared-device use.
